The upcoming event titled “Tides of Change: Mapping the Legacy of U.S. Island Imperialism and Community Empowerment” promises to shed light on an important aspect of history and community development. Scheduled for May 9 and 16, 2024, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Aliʻiōlani Hale Supreme Court Courtroom, the series is co-sponsored by prominent organizations.

The King Kamehameha V History Center, in collaboration with the Center for Biographical Research at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and Brigham Young University-Hawaiʻi Jonathan Nāpela Center for Hawaiian and Pacific Studies, have joined hands to bring this event to the public.

In a disclaimer, it is mentioned that, "While the Hawaiʻi State Judiciary provides a venue for diverse discussion, the speakersʻ remarks do not necessarily represent opinions of the Judiciary." This sets the stage for a wide range of perspectives and insights to be shared during the series.

Additionally, an important notice regarding the American with Disabilities Act was provided, stating, "If you need an accommodation for a disability when participating in a court program, service or activity, please contact the ADA Coordinator at the Judiciary Office on Equality and Access to the Courts at 808-539-4860 as far in advance as possible to allow time to provide an accommodation."

For those interested in delving into the historical and community aspects of U.S. island imperialism and empowerment, this series presents a valuable opportunity to engage with experts in the field.
