The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) has issued a red placard to Redfish Poke by Foodland, resulting in an immediate shutdown of the establishment located at 2375 Ala Wai Blvd. The closure is due to a sewage blockage issue.

Redfish Poke, operated by Pacific Sweets, LLC, received the red placard on May 10, 2024. It must remain closed until the DOH conducts a follow-up inspection and all violations are resolved.

During a complaint inspection conducted on the same day, the DOH inspector noted critical violations including:

"Sewage drain line is blocked so that establishment is not able to use water in hand-washing sinks, three-compartment sinks, and dishwasher."

"One hand-washing sink is not available in food prep area due to blockage of sewage."

Before it can reopen, the DOH requires the food establishment to take corrective actions including removing the sewage blockage in the drain line. This will restore proper drainage and enable use of hand-washing sinks, three-compartment sinks, and dishwasher. The next follow-up inspection is scheduled for Monday, May 13, 2024.

The DOH Food Safety Branch works towards protecting and promoting the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. It conducts routine health inspections where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed or sold.
