The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch has issued a red placard to Crackin’ Kitchen in Honolulu, leading to its immediate closure. The restaurant, located at 2330 Kalākaua Ave. Unit 318 and operated by TS Grasp Inc., was shut down due to water backup in the kitchen.

The red placard was issued on October 1st, and the establishment must remain closed until a follow-up inspection confirms that the issue has been resolved. "DOH is requiring the food establishment to take the following corrective actions before it can reopen," according to the department's statement.

A date for this follow-up inspection has not yet been set. In response, Crackin’ Kitchen is working to have a plumber address the problem on-site. Once repairs are completed, the operator will contact a DOH Food Safety Branch inspector for further evaluation.

The DOH Food Safety Branch is responsible for protecting and promoting health among Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch routinely inspects places where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
