The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch has issued a red placard and ordered the immediate closure of Crackin’ Kitchen, situated at 2330 Kalākaua Ave. Unit 318 in Honolulu. The decision was made due to water backup issues in the kitchen area.
The restaurant, operated by TS Grasp Inc., received the red placard on October 1. It is required to remain closed until a follow-up inspection by DOH confirms that the problem has been resolved and there is no longer any water backing up in the kitchen.
Before reopening, DOH mandates that Crackin’ Kitchen undertake specific corrective actions:
- Resolve the water backup issue in the kitchen.
- Sanitize the kitchen floor.
Currently, a date for this follow-up inspection has not been set. The establishment is reportedly working to have a plumber address the issue on-site. Once repairs are complete, the operator will contact a DOH Food Safety Branch inspector to arrange for an inspection.
The DOH Food Safety Branch's mission is to protect and promote public health for both residents and visitors of Hawai‘i through education and regulation of food establishments across the state. Routine health inspections are conducted at locations where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
