The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA) has announced the upcoming monthly test of the all-hazard Statewide Outdoor Warning Siren System. Scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2024, at 11:45 a.m., this test will coincide with a trial of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System.

During this scheduled event, all Statewide Outdoor Warning Sirens will emit a one-minute Attention Alert Signal, characterized by a steady tone. The Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System will be tested simultaneously in collaboration with Hawai‘i's broadcast industry. No additional exercises or drills will accompany this test.

The Outdoor Siren Warning System is part of Hawaii's broader alert and warning framework designed to inform the public during emergencies. In non-test situations, hearing this siren should prompt individuals to follow emergency instructions provided through official channels such as local radio or television broadcasts and cellular Wireless Emergency Alerts.

Wireless Emergency Alerts provide sound and text warnings to compatible mobile devices. These alerts, along with those from the Emergency Alert System, are disseminated via the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System managed by FEMA.

Residents seeking information on emergency management and disaster preparedness can visit ready.hawaii.gov or refer to printed telephone directories available in most counties. For updates from HI-EMA or to subscribe to county alerts, visiting their website is recommended.
