The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Maui Food Safety Branch has permitted Paradise Supermart Fast Food & Catering to resume operations. A green "pass" placard was issued following a follow-up inspection on February 13, 2025. The establishment, managed by Paradise Asian Foods Inc., is located at 207 East Wakea Ave., in Kahului, Maui.
The reopening comes after the business addressed all critical violations noted during a routine inspection on February 5, 2025. The corrections made include the removal of grease and food debris from kitchen surfaces and the establishment of a cleaning schedule. Additionally, no cockroach or fly activity was observed, and pest monitoring and treatment procedures were implemented. All refrigeration units are now maintaining temperatures not exceeding 41°F. Written procedures for monitoring proper hot, cold, and cooling of foods have been established, and the person in charge has obtained a food handler’s certification.
The DOH requires the establishment to continue collaborating with its pest control company for weekly treatments over a month before transitioning to biweekly sessions while providing completed work orders to the DOH. Furthermore, the designated person in charge must continue demonstrating managerial control over critical food safety requirements.
The DOH Food Safety Branch is committed to safeguarding the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education and regulation of food establishments statewide. It conducts routine inspections where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold. The branch also investigates sources of foodborne illnesses and potential adulteration while working to prevent future incidents.
