The Sustainability Film Series: Student Film Showcase is set to take place this Sunday, March 9, at the Doris Duke Theatre in Honolulu. The event, which focuses on climate change mitigation and engagement, invites community members to attend without any charge.
This showcase is a collaboration between the Hawaiʻi State Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC), the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Institute for Sustainability and Resilience, the Better Tomorrow Speaker Series, and the Honolulu Museum of Art. It features short films on climate action created by students from the School of Cinematic Arts at UH Mānoa.
After the film screenings, there will be a Q&A session with the filmmakers. This offers attendees a chance to engage directly with those who created the films.
The series addresses contemporary issues and aims to encourage public involvement in social and environmental matters affecting Hawaiʻi and the Pacific region. Through these films and discussions, it seeks to foster connections among students and the community to promote cooperative efforts towards enduring climate change solutions.
