Vessel registration renewal for state boat owners in Hawaii has been made more convenient with the introduction of a new online portal. The Department of Land and Natural Resources' Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR) launched the portal to offer an efficient way for boaters to complete their annual registration renewals.

The project aims to simplify the renewal process for boat owners. “We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we worked through development and implementation of this system,” said Meghan Statts, DOBOR Administrator. “In today’s world, it only makes sense that boaters can conveniently renew online.”

While the new system offers online renewals, in-person renewals remain an option at the Vessel Registration and Titling Office on Sand Island Access Road in Oʻahu or at any DOBOR Neighbor Island District Office. Mail-in renewals will continue to be accepted and processed based on the order they are received. However, new purchases and transfers must still be conducted in person.

The initiative is part of the department's ongoing improvements to streamline operations and increase accessibility for boat owners throughout the state.
