79 percent of applicants to the University of Hawaii at Hilo were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Hawaii at Hilo, 74 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 65 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Hilo enrolled 3,406 students in fall 2018, including 2,816 in undergraduate and 590 in graduate programs, data shows. 14.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

70 percent of undergraduates are residents of Hawaii, and 27 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as two or more races (35 percent) and white (19 percent).

The school admitted 79 percent of the 1,816 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 29 percent enrolled.
