Hawaii is set to receive more than $12 million in grant funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Program.

The funding will go toward helping fight against homelessness on O'ahu and other neighboring islands in Hawaii.

“The coronavirus pandemic has made providing services to those experiencing homelessness more challenging and costly,” Sen. Mazie Hirono said. "This funding will provide vital support to organizations across Hawaii as they work to slow the spread of coronavirus by providing housing and services for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.”

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care funding report, $2.5 billion was rewarded to recipients during the 2020 Fiscal Year.

The funding will be distributed to several organizations and service providers that help with homelessness across Hawaii, including the O’ahu island and other islands.
