The Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs issued a statement that encouraged Hawaii residents to review the special enrollment period for health care in the state.
This follows a President Joe Biden executive order that establishes a new special enrollment period to allow residents to obtain health insurance marketplace coverage through HealthCare.gov.
“It’s been almost year since a public health emergency was declared due to COVID-19 and the emergency continues. As we continue to tackle this pandemic, it is more critical than ever to ensure that Hawaii’s uninsured and underinsured have access to affordable health care. This special enrollment period allows individuals and families a chance to get comprehensive health insurance coverage if they qualify," Insurance Commissioner Colin Hayashida said.
Residents of the state continue to worry about health care coverage in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic and massive job loss, resulting in many losing their health care coverage.
