Applications are being accepted at the University of Hawaii at Hilo to be part of Wailau’s third storytelling installment this fall.
The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 3, and winners will be selected Thursday, Sept. 16. The virtual event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. Submissions are welcome from community members, students, faculty, staff and alumni.
“Tell your story of work on a project or problem, a literal trip or journey, or a piece of your life journey with its twists and turns,” the University of Hawaii at Hilo invites storytellers to send their applications on its website. “Everyone has taken many journeys from Point A to Point B -- we want to hear about yours!”
Anyone interested can apply online using a Google Form. Stories should be about five minutes long and can be shared in writing or as an audio or video file.
Between the selection date and the premiere, storytellers will be recorded sharing their stories of “Getting from Point A to Point B” on the University of Hilo’s Performing Arts stage, but self-taped stories will be accepted if storytellers are not be able to attend the on-stage taping.
Wailau, which is intended to build connections among members of the university and surrounding community, is a series of storytelling events around a central theme. The theme for fall is "Getting from Point A to Point B."
