The University of Hawaii (UH) at Hilo’s Vulcans women's volleyball team won their most recent match against Biola, marking their fifth win in a row since the loss of one of their most prominent players and a large third-set deficit, according to The Official Athletics Site of Hawaii at Hilo.
"We came up with some great work at the net tonight, some timely blocks when we needed it," said UH Hilo head coach Chris Leonard. "Biola is a really good team, and that was a very good win for us tonight."
The game against Biola took place at Vulcan Gymnasium. The win officially placed the team at 9-2 for the season and 6-1 in the Pacific West Conference, among the top rankings for a conference with a half-game lead over Chaminade and Azusa Pacific, according to UH Hilo's Athletics Site.
The team won with a score-count of 25-17, 17-25, 29-27, 22-25, 15-10, with players Bria Beale scoring 17 kills, while Samara Cruz shot 16 kills and Sydney Gott had 14 kills with a .478 attack percentage, UH Hilo Athletics noted.
Another one of the team’s recent games took place as a PacWest contender Concordia Irvine this past Saturday night, in which Hawaii Hilo was victorious again. Their next game is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the Dominican University team.
