The University of Hawaii at Hilo women's volleyball team, the Vulcans, attributed their stellar win to strong teamwork, which ultimately earned them five wins against the Dominican University Penguins.

"I'm proud of our group," said head coach Chris Leonard. "We started down a number of players tonight and had a lot of players who stepped up. It was a team effort, and we struggled at times, but one of the things I'm most proud of is this team's ability to come back. We have been down numerous times this year and have been able to come back and chase teams down."

The Dominican University Penguins, from California, bounced back in the second set, winning by 25-22, according to the Official Athletics Site of the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

According to the UH website, the game's kill leaders were Samara Cruz (16), Kamilla Marinas (13), Amber Tai (11) and Ahston Jessee (9).

The Vulcans played again Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. against the Holy Names University Hawks and were victorious, 3-0. The Vulcans have not lost a game since Sept. 19 when the team played Hawaii Pacific University.
