The University of Hawaii Hilo athletic department ranked fifth in the first Pacific West Conference Commissioner's Cup for 2021-22.

UH Hilo is among the 11 conference schools that participated in the Cup during the fall sports season.

“The Vulcans strong fall showing is led by the women's soccer team's co-championship with Point Loma,” according to UH Hilo Athletics. “The Vulcans volleyball team finished fourth, the men's soccer team seventh and the women's cross-country team ninth.”

The Vulcans' fifth place listing is their highest through the fall for the past 10 years, according to UH Hilo Athletics. Through the fall season this year, Azusa Pacific earned the first spot with 12 points, followed by Biola (11.6), Point Loma (11.1), Concordia (10.4), then UH Hilo (9.13), followed by Fresno Pacific (7.7), Academy of Art (7.1), Hawaii Pacific (7.0), Chaminade (5.2), Dominican (4.8) and Holy Names (3.1).

The Pacific West Conference Commissioner's Cup is based upon the average finish in sports that the PacWest offers. Each school's points are added and then divided by the number of PacWest athletic programs it offers, leading to a point average for the school. Through the fall season, only five of the 15 sports have been awarded points, meaning there are 10 sports left until the final score is tallied for each school.

The next update will come after the completion of the basketball season.
