University of Hawaii-Hilo (UHH) sports information recently reported that UH-Hilo baseball stars Joseph Gallagher and Casey Yamauchi were both named to the All-PacWest Conference team.
Gallagher was named First Team All-PacWest as the designated hitter following a season in which he hit .348 with six home runs and a .549 slugging percentage, with 39 RBIs and 17 multi-hit games; a release on HiloAthletics.com said. Voted to the third team, Yamauchi had the best batting average in the PacWest at .403 and finished with 26 multi-hit games and a conference-leading 21 doubles for the season.
Gallagher hit in the clean-up position for the team, the release said. Yamauchi was an excellent fielder in addition to his hitting prowess. On the season, he had 21 double-plays and held a .941 fielding percentage.
The UHH team went 27-19 and 15-17 in the Pacific West, which put them sixth place in the final conference standings.
