University of Hawaii at Hilo Vulcans men's basketball team claims two recent wins with two standout performances

The University of Hawaii Hilo Vulcans men's basketball team picked up a back-to-back victory during its two recent games.

The Vulcans won against the Holy Names University Hawks on Jan. 6 and the Biola University Eagles on Jan. 10. Key players freshman Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones and sophomore Kameron Ng were named Pepsi Athletes of the Week.

"Proud of how well our men played connected and aggressive today against a very good Biola team," Head Coach Kaniela Aiona said, according to the Official Athletics Site of Hawaii at Hilo.

Scores were at 85-78 against the Hawks and 97-89 against the Eagles.

Tait-Jones recorded a total of 39 points, 26 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks, according to the Official Athletics Site of Hawaii at Hilo.

During the game against the Hawks, Ng was 4-for-9 in the field. He played 1-for-2 behind the arc and three-for-four at the free throw line. Against the Eagles, he shot 50% in the field (4-8), 2-for-2 at the free throw line and was 2-for-5 behind the arc.

The Vulcans prevailed again in the following game on Jan. 13 against Academy of Art, 75-72. Their next game is tonight at 7:20 p.m. against Dominican University of California.
