Three Sun Devils golfers joined two other players in the top five on the first day of the 31st annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate at the Hapuna Golf Club on Feb 3.

Arizona State University’s (ASU) Mason Andersen (65), James Leow (65) and Preston Summerhays (66) were three of the top five leaders.

“The Sun Devils turned in a score of -20 (268), which ironically doesn't include the score of co-medalist leader James Leow, who fired a -7 round of 65,” The Official Athletics Site of Hawaii at Hilo said. “Leow is playing as ASU's No. 6, leaving him out of the team scoring. Leow shares the tournament lead with teammate Mason Andersen for the defending Amer Ari team champs.”

The University of Hawaii at Hilo and the University of Hawaii are tied for 18th with scores of 308 (+20).

Thomas Hutchinson of the University of California, Davis, and Baar Skogen of Texas Tech University both scored the same as ASU’s Summerhays.

Two Sun Devils, Cameron Sisk and David Puig, are at 68 and 72 respectively. Puig is a defending Amer Ari Intercollegiate medalist.
