The Azusa Pacific Cougars, the top seed going in, knocked the UH Hilo men's basketball team from the PacWest Conference tournament with an 87-72 quarterfinal win at the Special Events Center.

"Azusa is a tough team," UH Hilo head coach Kaniela Aiona said in a recent release on the university's website. "They have great size, are well coached and run a good system. They had a good game plan and executed well against us."

With the loss, UH Hilo's season came to an end with an overall record of 14-13 and 10-9 in conference play. The Vulcans were the No. 7 seed going into the tournament.

Donald McHenry led the Vulcans on offense with 19 points, the release's stat sheet said. Darren Williams was right behind him with 18, and Max Kunnert ended the game with 12 points. Defensively, Kunnert and Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones had five boards each, while Jamie Strong and Williams each grabbed three.
