Players on the University of Hawai'i at Hilo softball team have received recognition from the PacWest Conference for their efforts this season with two PacWest Players of the Year and three All-PacWest Selections.

Jayda Favela, Skylar Thomas, Brandee Chinen and Angel Prewitt were all recognized for their performance on the softball diamond. Their achievements were shared May 4 on the Vulcans athletic website

Favela was named PacWest Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-PacWest selection after she started every game as a shortstop and rounded out the season with a .983 fielding percentage. She also ranked fifth in the conference for the dozen double plays she was a part of and ranked second in the conference with 117 assists at shortstop.

Thomas, a senior, was named PacWest Defender of the Year and ranked third in the conference for fielding-percentage, third in putouts and only had one error the entire season.

Chinen received her first All-PacWest recognition as a Second Team selection. She ranked fifth in the conference for her .370 batting average. This season Chinen had 34 hits, four doubles, one triple and had a home run scoring 23 times herself and bringing home another 15 points for RBIs.

Prewitt, also a senior, was tabbed for the All-PacWest third team. Her record included 33 hits and five doubles. In her final game as a Vulcan, Prewitt batted three of those hits and a pair of doubles against ART U.
