Local musicians headline 'Teach Our Future' concert to benefit Hawaii’s educators July 27 at the Hawaii Theatre

The Hawaii Foundation for Educators announced that it is teaming up with local musicians Pure Heart and The Makaha Sons for its second annual “Teach Our Future” benefit concert.

According to the Hawaii Theatre Center, the event will be held Wednesday, July 27, at the historic Hawaii Theatre. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $15, plus taxes and fees. The Foundation will welcome back Billy V as emcee, as well as added performances by the Hawaii High School Saxophone Ensemble and Eddie and the Coconuts, a family band led by Eddie Somera. Somera is a Hawaii State Department of Education behavioral technician.

“We look forward to welcoming our supporters in person to Hawaii Theatre for an unforgettable musical experience," Hawaii Foundation for Educators board member Harris Nakamoto said in an Hawaii State Teachers Association press release. "Proceeds will help the Hawaii Foundation for Educators further its mission of providing professional development funding and support for Hawaii’s educators, from both public and private schools.” 

Per Hawaii Theatre guidelines, attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken 48 hours in advance at the door, as well as wear masks throughout the performance.
