New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County were up 95% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 27, according to data from the state’s Department of Health.
The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County based on a seven-day average stands at 13.4 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.
The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 40,365, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 6.9.
The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 70%. And total COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County now number 216.
Over the past week, the number of coronavirus tests performed on the Big Island was 269, the Department of Health said.
