Hawai‘i’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), Doug Murdock, has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Technology Leaders for his outstanding contributions to the state's technological advancements. Governor Green praised Murdock, stating, “Our CIO Doug Murdock has led Hawai‘i’s technology efforts through some very difficult years while simultaneously moving the state forward with the modernization and consolidation of our IT infrastructure.”

Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke also commended Murdock, highlighting his pivotal role in modernizing the state's services. She expressed, “Doug has been a key leader in this endeavor, overseeing some of the largest technology initiatives to ensure Hawai‘i remains at the forefront of data and technology.”

The award was presented to Murdock during the Hawai‘i Data & Artificial Intelligence Summit by Lt. Gov. Luke, who emphasized the significance of Murdock's contributions to innovative technology implementation in the state. Murdock, who heads the Office of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS), humbly accepted the accolade, stating, “I am honored to receive this award and the recognition it brings, not just for me, but for the incredible transformative work done by all of those involved in advancing digital government in the state of Hawai‘i.”

Government Technology CEO Cathilea Robinett commended Murdock for his efforts in modernizing state IT infrastructure, particularly during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Robinett stated, “During COVID, Doug and his team stood up a tracking tool that protected both residents and tourism. Doug has also led the state to the cloud, reducing risk and advancing Hawai‘i’s cybersecurity posture.”

Murdock expressed his dedication to further enhancing digital government in Hawai‘i, emphasizing that there is still much work to be done. This recognition marks the third national award for Murdock as state CIO, with ETS receiving national acclaim five times under his leadership.
