In a bid to combat the growing threat of invasive species, Governor David Ige has issued a proclamation urging collective action. The governor's office released the proclamation on May 10, 2024, during a ceremony at the Hawaii State Art Museum (HISAM).

Governor Ige stated, "We need everyone in the state to understand that they have a role in protecting our environment from invasive species." He further emphasized that "this is not just an issue for government agencies; it's an issue for all of us."

The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) echoed the governor's sentiments. They believe that community involvement is key to addressing this environmental challenge.
