The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) has announced a series of disciplinary actions through September 2024. These actions, undertaken by various boards and commissions, aim to ensure compliance with professional standards as outlined by state law.

The Board of Physical Therapy sanctioned Laura J. Romig with a six-month license suspension and required completion of 30 continuing competency units due to violations found in a contested case hearing. Joy T.D. Yanai received a $500 fine for violating HRS § 436B-19(11).

Thananya Owens and Healthland, LLC were fined $1,000 by the Board of Massage Therapy for employing an unlicensed therapist and failing to display proper licenses during an inspection. Similarly, Mareena Trinnaman and Saitara Thai Massage, LLC received a $2,000 fine for similar violations.

Dustin R. Craft had his chiropractic license revoked after failing to comply with a Settlement Agreement approved on March 11, 2024.

Kevin Abella was fined $500 by the Behavior Analyst Program after being disciplined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board for violations including HRS § 465D-11(a)(7).

Sadie Sewell was fined $500 under the Athletic Trainers Program for not reporting disciplinary action related to continuing education non-compliance.

William W. Wong faced license revocation and a $6,000 fine from the Board of Professional Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, and Landscape Architects following a hearing officer's recommendation.

The Real Estate Commission revoked Jon E. McElvaney's license following allegations filed on May 6, 2024. Hawaiiana Management Company, Ltd., received a $1,500 fine as part of its disciplinary measures.

These actions reflect ongoing efforts by the DCCA and associated boards to maintain high standards across professions in Hawaii.
