The Women's Community Correctional Center (WCCC) in Kailua has opened a new fitness center named "Ho‘ōla," following a dedication ceremony and blessing on November 21, 2024. This development is the result of collaboration between the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR), the facility, and the Women’s Prison Project (WPP).

Warden Ione “Noni” Guillonta expressed optimism about the initiative, stating, “Exercise provides a long list of health benefits, including improved self-esteem, which will help prepare our residents for a positive future when they reenter the community.”

Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke, Director Tommy Johnson of DCR, former Governor Linda Lingle, co-founder of WPP, and several donors were present at the event. The fitness center was funded with $140,000 in donations and features 16 machines selected with assistance from Mike Sapp of Mike Sapp Fitness.

Incarcerated women can schedule workout sessions under Marina Hutchinson's guidance. Director Johnson highlighted the center as part of their commitment to rehabilitation: “We are grateful for the donors’ generosity and all of the supporters involved.”

The Women’s Prison Project aims to reduce incarceration rates by supporting women during their imprisonment and reentry into society. Former Governor Lingle commended Warden Guillonta and Director Johnson for their leadership: “They are dedicated to improving conditions at our women’s facility.”
