The Hawaiʻi State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) is organizing a hiring fair to address labor shortages and support workers affected by federal employment changes. The event is scheduled for Friday, February 28, 2025.
Jade T. Butay, the DLIR Director, stated, "We invite individuals impacted by recent federal policy changes to explore career opportunities within our department or consider other state positions." Butay emphasized the availability of immediate openings and an expedited hiring process for those wishing to continue their careers in public service.
Brenna H. Hashimoto, Director of the Department of Human Resources Development, expressed eagerness to integrate federal workers into state workforces: "We value the experience and dedication of federal workers," she said. "We are eager to welcome those impacted by the changes at the federal level to our workforces, as we believe they will make an immediate, positive impact."
Participants at the job fair will have opportunities to explore open positions within DLIR’s divisions. They can meet with hiring managers, participate in on-the-spot interviews, and receive assistance with job-matching and applications for DLIR roles.
The event titled “Operation Hire Hawaiʻi: A Workforce Transition Initiative” will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 830 Punchbowl St., Rooms 310, 313, and 314 in Honolulu.
