Hawaii County COVID-19 cases averaged 77 per day over past week

New COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County were down 23.7% over the past two weeks, with the average number of daily cases over the past week reaching 77, according to data from the state’s Department of Health.

The level of new daily COVID-19 cases in Hawaii County based on a seven-day average stands at 38.2 per 100,000 people, the agency reported.

The total number of coronavirus cases recorded on the Big Island since the pandemic began was 34,144, according to the department’s data. The current percentage of patients testing positive for the virus is 12.0.

The share of the Big Island’s population that is now fully vaccinated is 69%. And total COVID-19 deaths in Hawaii County now number 194. 

Over the past week, the number of coronavirus tests performed on the Big Island was 524, the Department of Health said.
