The Department of Law Enforcement (DLE) has announced the introduction of a new smartphone app to report illegal fireworks on Independence Day. This initiative is part of an effort to streamline reporting methods and enhance public safety.

Residents can now report illegal fireworks through three distinct methods, with all reports remaining anonymous unless the individual chooses to disclose their identity or contact information.

The first method involves calling the DLE’s anonymous tip line at 808-517-2182. Callers are encouraged to leave detailed messages that include the address or location involved, types of illegal fireworks being used, and descriptions and names of individuals using them.

The second method allows for tips to be submitted via the DLE website at law.hawaii.gov. Tipsters should provide as much detailed information as possible when filling out the online form.

The third option is through the newly launched SaferWatch app, which can be downloaded from GetSaferWatch.com onto any smartphone. Through this app, users can submit information along with videos or photographs of the illegal activities.

All these measures are intended to support the Illegal Fireworks Task Force in maintaining safety during holiday celebrations.
