Dredging work at Māla Boat Ramp in Maui is set to commence on March 31, 2025, with an anticipated completion by late September of the same year. The project is budgeted at $1,061,000.

During the dredging process, the boat ramp and entrance channel will remain operational, although users may experience occasional interruptions. Efforts will be made by the contractor to minimize these disruptions in collaboration with the users.

Meghan Statts, DOBOR Administrator, expressed gratitude towards stakeholders for their support and understanding. "We recognize the importance Māla Ramp has to west Maui users, especially with Lahaina Harbor closed for rebuilding, and we want to thank the users for their patience while DOBOR worked on funding and regulatory approvals to get this project started," Statts stated. She further acknowledged legislative efforts and gubernatorial support: “We also want to thank the legislature for providing the funding and the Governor for working quickly to release the funding.”
