The Hawai'i Police Department's Hāmākua District Community Policing Officers have congratulated the participants and winners of the department's Third Annual Back to School Keiki Fishing Derby. The event took place on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Laupāhoehoe Point Beach Park in Laupāhoehoe. Paul Scolari has been appointed as the new superintendent of Kaloko-Honokōhau and Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Parks on Hawai'i Island, according to the National Park Service (NPS). Hawaiian Airlines to resume nonstop flights between Tokyo and Hawai'i Island

Hawaiian Airlines has announced that it will resume nonstop flights between Tokyo's Haneda Airport and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport on Hawaii Island. The airline plans to operate three flights from October 29 to November 4, before restarting regular weekly service on November 22. By March 2024, Hawaiian Airlines aims to return to its original thrice-weekly schedule.

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park held a cultural festival at the Kahuku Unit of the park on Saturday, where 985 locals and visitors came together to create lauhala bracelets, twisted lei from tī leaves, played Hawaiian games and enjoyed ono kine grindz on the festival grounds. Multiple performers held performances for festival attendees, including Debbie Ryder’s Hālau o Leionalani, Keaīwa, Kenneth Makuakāne, the Kīpapa Sisters, Russell Mauga and Da Kahuku Mauka Boyz, and LoriLei’s Hula Studio.
